Over the course of the next three days, students will showcase projects driven by science and innovation as the 2025 National STEAM Fair opens.
The acronym STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The fair is being hosted at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre under the theme: “Innovative Solutions through STEAM for Sustainable Development in Guyana.”
Education Minister Priya Manickchand, delivering the feature address at the event earlier today, encouraged parents to bring their children to view the exhibits, noting that months of hard work and preparation had gone into making the event a success.
She noted that students from Regions One through Ten were encouraged to create and demonstrate their innovations in various subject areas, focusing on how Guyana can achieve sustainable development.
“The exhibitions, projects, and innovations you’ll see here are really the result of a period during which, from Regions One through Ten, from nursery to secondary, schools and students—pupils and infants—were encouraged over several months to conceive, create, and demonstrate their innovations in various subject areas, based on how we can build sustainably. What you see here is really months of the education system encouraging our students and pupils to do what we do every single day,” she stated.
The minister added that she was very pleased with the creative displays on show.
