EKAA HRIM commits to paying off 37 Indian workers by May 27

EKAA HRIM Earth Resources has committed to paying outstanding salaries and wages owed to 37 workers by May 27, 2026, following an inter-agency meeting on Friday.
The commitment by the company comes amid protests and ongoing investigations into alleged labour and occupational safety violations involving Indian nationals employed at the company.
The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning said in a release that the agreement followed a meeting at its headquarters, where officials reviewed the matter while investigations remain active. Officials from the Ministries of Legal Affairs, Home Affairs and Human Services participated in the discussions, which were led by the Labour Ministry.
The Acting Indian High Commissioner also attended the meeting and engaged with workers and representatives of EKAA HRIM Earth Resources, the ministry said.
During the consultations, both sides raised additional matters and agreed to provide further supporting documentation in the coming week.
The ministry stressed that the process remains ongoing and continues to be guided by due process and compliance with the laws of Guyana.
