The 16-year-old accused of fatally stabbing City Councillor, Kyle Anthony Solomon,47, was today remanded to prison following his first appearance at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of murder. The minor was not required to plead to the capital offence.

Solomon was killed in the early morning hours last Wednesday. Reports indicate that around 04:00 hours, Solomon heard a sound and ventured outside to investigate.
He allegedly encountered the suspect attempting to break into his shop, which was located a short distance from his residence.
Solomon raised an alarm and this caused the suspect to flee the scene. Solomon is said to have given chase, caught up with the perpetrator and a scuffle ensued between them.
During the altercation, the assailant allegedly whipped out a knife and inflicted several stab wounds on Solomon, including one to the chest.
