Members of GDF, NISA trained to tackle evolving cyber threats

Members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) have been trained in advanced cybersecurity strategies through a two-day intensive programme conducted by Data Technology Guyana in collaboration with cybersecurity firm Fortinet.
The initiative was aimed at strengthening Guyana’s ability to combat evolving cyber threats and protect critical national infrastructure and security systems.
The training programme was designed to equip personnel from key national security institutions with advanced knowledge and cutting-edge technological solutions to address the growing and evolving landscape of cyber threats at a national level.
Participants received hands-on exposure to industry-leading cybersecurity frameworks, tools and best practices aimed at improving the protection of sensitive information systems and strengthening the country’s cyber resilience.
“This training marks a significant step forward in strengthening Guyana’s cyber resilience,” said Rennie Leow, General Manager of Data Technology Guyana. “By empowering our national security forces with the right knowledge and tools, we are laying a strong foundation for a more secure digital future for Guyana,” he added.
The collaboration between Data Technology Guyana and Fortinet reflects a shared commitment to building national cybersecurity capacity through technology, training and strategic partnerships. Fortinet provided technical expertise and resources for the initiative as part of efforts to support cybersecurity development in Guyana.
