AK assault rifle, magazines found in Sophia drain

An AK assault rifle with its serial number filed off and two magazines were found in a dry drain at ‘C’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, early Wednesday, police said.
Police said ranks, acting on information received, proceeded to an empty plot of land in the area at around 2:30am and conducted a search, discovering the rifle and two AK magazines inside a bag in the drain. No ammunition was found.
The firearm and magazines were taken into police custody and escorted to the Turkeyen Police Station, where they were lodged pending investigation.
No arrest has been made, and investigations are continuing.
