Jason-Ray Khalil and Kirsten Gomes secured bronze for Guyana in the mixed doubles squash event at the Central American and Caribbean Games on Wednesday, falling to Mexico’s Alfredo Avila and Luz Lopez in the semi-final.
The Guyanese pair, who cruised into the semi-final, came up a tad short, losing 2-0 at 11-4 and 11-0.
In squash, the teams that fall short in the semi-finals both receive bronze medals while the winners go on to the gold medal game.
Khalil and Gomes will now switch their attention to their respective teams competition for Guyana, with both the men’s and women’s teams competition serving off on August 6.
