Teen reportedly raped and filmed

Police are investigating an alleged ‘Rape of a Child’ committed on a 15-year-old schoolgirl in June 2025 on the East Bank of Demerara.

According to police, three suspects have been identified.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim and the suspects are known to each other. The 15-year-old female victim stated that she and the suspects would communicate via WhatsApp. She also said that on two different occasions, she had met with the suspects, where she had sexual intercourse with them. The victim also stated that the suspects had made videos of her having sex with them without her knowing and threatened that they would post the videos.

The victim and her mother were referred to the Child Care and Protection Agency.

Missing East Bank teenage girls found in Crabwood Creek

Two 15-year-old girls who were reported missing on Tuesday have been located by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in Crabwood Creek, Corentyne. They are now in the custody of authorities as investigations continue.

According to police at the Springlands Police Station, at approximately 10:30 hrs today, acting on information received, a police team went to the Well Tank area in Crabwood Creek, where they found the two missing girls.

 

The girls, both 15-year-old students from Lot 19, Supply, East Bank Demerara, have been identified. At the time they were found, they were in the company of Marlon Kendall, a 21-year-old security guard, and Mark Balram, an 18-year-old carpenter, both residents of Grant 1803, Crabwood Creek.

Upon being escorted to the Springlands Police Station, one of the girls disclosed to ranks that she had travelled to Berbice to meet her boyfriend, who is reportedly the brother of Marlon Kendall.

The matter has since been handed over to the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU) for further investigation, given the age of the girls and the circumstances under which they were found.

The GBVU, a specialised unit within the GPF, is tasked with handling cases involving vulnerable persons, including minors and victims of exploitation or abuse.

Teen drowns in canal while hunting wild ducks

An 18-year-old carpenter from No. 71 Village, Corentyne, tragically lost his life on Monday afternoon after reportedly drowning in a canal at the No. 71 Village sea dam.

The deceased has been identified as Yodesh, also known as “Boyo” or “Rasta,” a resident of Lot 183, No. 71 Village.

According to police, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on 21 July, and was reported to Springlands Police Station shortly after, at 5:20 p.m.

Initial information received from Looknauth Narine, also known as “Fatboy,” a 40-year-old cane harvester and the deceased’s stepfather, indicated that Yodesh left home around 4:00 p.m. to purchase an XL energy drink and never returned.

Further enquiries revealed that Yodesh, along with two friends—17-year-old electrician Airon Yacoob of No. 70 Village, and Omar Khan, known as “Lil Buck,” of No. 71 Village—had instead gone to the sea dam to catch “wisy wisy” wild ducks.

According to Yacoob, while the trio was crossing a canal with water just above waist height, Yodesh entered first but began struggling in the middle of the waterway. Khan reportedly jumped in to rescue him but was unsuccessful.

A nearby farmer, 36-year-old Navindra Sukhdeo, called “Navin,” was spraying crops in his garden some distance away when he noticed two boys frantically waving for help. Upon learning someone had gone under the water, he and a few other men, including a relative, rushed to the scene and eventually pulled Yodesh’s lifeless body from the canal.

Police officers, including ASP Laljit, Detective Sergeant Fraser, Detective Corporal George, and Woman Detective Constable Welch, visited the scene around 5:30 p.m. The body was photographed and examined, with no visible signs of violence noted.

Yodesh was taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead by Dr Smith. His body is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have found no evidence of foul play, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Police investigating alleged abduction of teen

A teenage girl, Adrianna Younge, 11, was reportedly abducted on Wednesday, between 1:02 PM and 2:00 PM, at the Double Day Hotel, Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.

According to a police report, Adrianna, a Guyanese of mixed ancestry, had gone to the hotel’s pool with her grandmother, Carol Xavier, and other family members.

Xavier told investigators that at around 1:10 PM, she gave Adrianna money to purchase a wristband to access the pool. Adrianna subsequently entered the pool with her siblings.

Later, when the grandmother called for the children to come out of the pool, she realised Adrianna was missing. A frantic search was immediately conducted in and around the pool area and the hotel premises by family members, but the teenager was not found.

The matter was reported to the Tuschen Police Station, and officers arrived on the scene around 3:30 PM. A thorough search was conducted throughout the hotel, including rooms, storerooms, the yard, and even the rooftop, but Adrianna was still not located.

The report noted that investigators observed several surveillance cameras mounted around the building; however, the hotel manager stated that the cameras were non-functional and no footage could be retrieved from them.

Police also confirmed that assistance was sought from the Regional Division Command Centre and CCTV footage from external sources later revealed Adrianna entering a red and black Toyota Raum bearing registration number PSS 4684. The vehicle was seen leaving the hotel premises, heading east towards Vreed-en-Hoop.

The registered owner of the car was contacted by police and claimed he had rented the vehicle to a man known only as “Orlando” the previous week. Police attempted to locate Orlando at an address provided by the car owner, but he was not found.

A trace of the vehicle from the Georgetown Command Centre, around 8:58 PM on Wednesday, indicated that the car was last seen in the Onderneeming area on the West Bank of Demerara, near the ‘White Shop shortcut’.

Police are continuing their pursuit of the suspect and the vehicle, as the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station.
